CARL LOUIS GEROLD Carl Louis Gerold went to be with his Lord on May 10, 2016, at the age of 81. He was born October 10, 1934, in Oak Forest, Texas and lived in San Antonio for most of his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Willis Wooldridge Gerold, daughter Janelle Gerold Bazar, her husband Dr. James L. Bazar, and their children Amanda Bazar Puente Cesar and Adam Gerold Bazar; son Jeffrey Carl Gerold, his wife Allison Kemph Gerold and their children Natalie Gerold and Megan Gerold; stepson Hollis Wooldridge, his wife Laura and their children, Morgan Wooldridge Desiree, Clayton Wooldridge Courtney, Harrison Wooldridge, and Curtis Wooldridge, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Sarah Jane Gerold and his first wife, Molly Dodson Gerold. Carl served in the U.S. Army, worked for Sears and Roebuck for over 40 years and then worked for the Baptist Children's Home services. He was a man of few words but was as hardworking and quick to help his neighbors as any friend could be. He was a dedicated member, faithful deacon and served as the chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee at Baptist Temple Church for 37 years. Although retired, Carl never really quit, but always worked on projects at church and home to keep him active. Carl will be remembered as a man who loved his family. He was not interested in being the center of attention but was simply interested in making sure things were done and done properly. Throughout his life, he served the Lord in various ways, using the gifts that God gave him to the fullest extent. He helped construct and maintain numerous churches and ministry buildings. He felt his service was making the areas used for ministry to be as nice as they could possibly be for those served. Later, he assisted with his church's outreach ministries providing food and clothing to those in the community. Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 2016, from 6 – 8 PM at Mission Park South, 1700 SE Military Dr. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Mission Park South.
