Carl Jerome Thompson, better known as Jerry, was born in Baton Rouge Louisiana on June 28, 1938. The youngest of 3 boys to Albert and Jessie Thompson. Jerry excelled in basketball and softball thus going on to study Physical Education at Southeastern University in Hammond, Louisiana. Jerry and his wife Betty met on a blind date with mutual friends and were married between college school semesters on December 23 rd , 1957. He graduated from college in in 1960 and began teaching school that fall. In December of 1960, Carl Jr was born; followed by Tami Renee in January 1965. While playing in an adult men’s softball league in 1967, Jerry was encouraged to interview for an Insurance Adjusters job, that paid better than a school teachers’ salary. Jerry took that job, and it is that job that brought Jerry and Betty to Texas in 1969; and subsequently San Antonio in 1970. For many years Jerry taught a Claims Adjusters Certification class at San Antonio College in the evenings. Jerry worked for Commercial Union Insurance company as a Claims manager for 35 years before retiring in 1999. In retirement, Jerry played a lot of golf, while volunteering his time at Woodlake Country Club. Jerry & Betty also took numerous vacations with friends and also visited their son Carl several times at his home in both New Mexico & Colorado. Jerry and Betty also spent a lot of time with daughter Tami, her husband Eric Crawford and their only grandson Ian, who was born in 1996. A lot of time was spent in Jerry & Betty’s backyard swimming pool enjoying the sun and teaching Ian how to swim. Jerry also spent time teaching Ian how to play golf and drive a golf cart. In 2008, Jerry began working part time for Thornton Biechlin Attorney firm, bringing forth his years of Insurance experience and insight to the firm. This part time work allowed Jerry to keep his mind active and still have time to take care of things at home, as Betty’s health was declining. In 2015, Betty passed after a long illness. At the time of her death, Jerry and Betty had been married 57 years. Jerry was known for staying in touch with friends and family by phone. Thus, after Betty’s passing, he made numerous visits back to his home state of Louisianna to attend reunions, funerals and commemorative ceremonies. He was also known for reading the daily newspaper everyday from front to back. He loved to watch sports of all kinds on television. And could add up mathematical figures in his head faster than his accountant son in law Eric. Like his Uncle CB, Jerry was optimistic that he would live to be a 100. So, at age 84, Jerry remarried to Tana Cooper in 2022, and was in the process of planning more trips and adventures. At that time, he was also sharing his time and swimming pool with Tana’s grandchildren Andrew & Alaina. Unfortunately, he became ill this spring, and began showing signs of multiple complex medical problems. Initially the doctors were optimistic however after a long hospital stay, he never recovered and went home to be with Lord peacefully on July 25th ,
