Carolyn Nicely Myers July 19, 1936 – July 18, 2025 Carolyn Myers, daughter of Meredith and Addie Nicely, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on the eve of her 89th birthday. She was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Temple Hills, Maryland. She had a posse of fun-loving friends and honed her tomboy skills with them - running wild in the beautiful woods surrounding their homes. She spent her summers in Hinton, West Virginia swimming in the Greenbrier River with her cousins. Carolyn attended Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia and the University of Maryland. Carolyn fell in love with Jack Myers, a dentist and captain in the United States Air Force. They began their married life together in Maryland close to their extended families. The two became five with their children Lesley, Kyle and Kurt. Their first move together took them to Columbus, Ohio where Jack attended graduate school at Ohio State University and they both became instant Buckeye fans. Jack’s next assignment was San Antonio. The whole family loved the city and its people and the decision was made for Jack to leave the Air Force and set up his private practice in Endodontics. Carolyn was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Her life’s focus was caring for her family and her adventurous spirit and energy kept everyone on the go. She organized weeks’ long camping trips through New Mexico, Colorado, the east coast and southern gulf states. Christmas always included baking cookies together and then off to the front yard for family football games. Trips to Port Aransas were activity filled with Carolyn at the helm. She was often spotted riding her bike through the neighborhood with curlers in her hair because that was more fun than drying her hair with a hair dryer. Family gatherings at the lake house at Horseshoe Bay were filled with waterskiing, sailing, swimming, and kayaking. Carolyn and Jack had great times playing tennis and golf at Oak Hills Country Club and the club at Horseshoe Bay with their wonderful friends. Carolyn’s outgoing personality made it easy for her to collect friends wherever she went. She and Jack traveled the world, often with their golf clubs in tow. In addition to their enduring love, they were the best of friends. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Jack, and her children Lesley and husband John Neyland, Kyle Myers, and Kurt Myers, grandchildren Caroline and Robert Chidgey, Katherine and Elizabeth Myers, Reese Neyland, Evan Neyland and his fiancé Eve and great grandson, Caden. Special thanks for the loving care provided by Samantha, Celia, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mari and Martha. They went above and beyond time and time again.
