Carolyn A. Ramirez, age 63, of San Antonio, passed away in the late evening hours of Wednesday, September 7, 2022, following a brief illness, at Methodist Hospital, in San Antonio. Carolyn was born on November 30, 1958, in San Antonio to the late Melecio Camacho and Maria Domingo (Mendoza) Acosta. She earned an associate degree as an X-ray technician which began her 30 plus year career as a medical assistant to Dr. John Smith and his staff. Carolyn married her best friend and lifelong partner, Alfredo Ramirez, Sr., on May 26, 1979, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in San Antonio. Together they would spend the next 43 years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories. Those who knew Carolyn will simply remember her as “the best”. The best everything – wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was funny and caring but also no nonsense. In a way that only Carolyn could, she would gladly tell you what you needed to hear, not what you wanted to hear. She enjoyed being outdoors where she spent countless hours caring for her yard and flower beds and she loved the church and was a lifelong Catholic but what truly made Carolyn happiest were her beloved grandchildren. As a mother, no one thought she could be more tentative and caring than she was to her children, but they all soon found out when the grandchildren arrived that Carolyn lived to be a grandmother. There wasn’t a babysitting opportunity, ride to or from school, or a minute with her grandbabies that Carolyn would ever pass up. Her grandbabies, the first of which gave her the title of "Ammer", experienced the true love that only Carolyn could give. Carolyn leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love that will live on in the hearts of those she knew and called her family and friends. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Alfredo Ramirez, Sr.; one daughter, Sara Ramirez, and husband Abiel; three sons, Alfredo Ramirez, Jr., and wife Esmeralda, Robert Ramirez, and wife Veronica, and Chris Ramirez; four sisters, Anita Loera-Tumamait, Rosita Acosta Vargas, Petra Gonzales, and Diana Acosta; three brothers, Eulalio Acosta, and wife Maria, Antonio Acosta, and Michael Acosta; one brother-in-law, Ruben Garzes; and by a host of grandchildren, family and friends. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Maria Magdalena Garzes, and one sister-in-law, Loretta Acosta. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 15, 2022, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Lorenzo Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Wednesday evening, at Dellcrest Funeral Home with the Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M.
