Carolyn Spengler was born September 24, 1945 to Hilmar and Alice Menn. She attended Leon Valley Elementary and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1964. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; three siblings Merrilyn Gohlke, Gus Menn and Richard Menn; and nephew Jeff Menn. She is survived by son, Gregory Sr and his wife Anna and daughter Kelly and her husband Claude Makerney. Her grandkids: Preston Makerney (Summer), Carolyn Jane “CJ” Spengler, Gregory Jr (Whitney) Spengler. Great grandkids: Peyton, Sadie, Bailey, and Kypton Makerney. Jeremiah and Jacob Spengler. Sister: Shirley Hoover. Numerous Nieces and Nephews. She loved spending time outside, whether tending to her plants, enjoying nature, fishing, 4Wheelin or drag racing. These moments brought her peace and reflected her appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She had a special connection to growing things, and her passion for plants showed her nurturing spirit and patient nature. Creativity was another defining part of her life. Turning simple materials into meaningful pieces made with care and love. Each creation reflected her thoughtfulness and the joy she found in making something special for others. Her crafts will remain treasured reminders of her creativity and her generous heart. Although we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the memories she leaves behind. Her legacy lives on through her family, her creations, and the countless lives she touched with her generosity and love. She is being sent to Heaven wrapped in love – a beautiful quilt, lovingly made by her daughter-in-love, Anna, and a special sweater carefully created by her daughter, Kelly. Each stitch holds memories, warmth and the deep love they shared with her. Alongside her rests a single yellow long stem rose. A quiet, meaningful symbol of a new beginning. As she is laid to rest, this rose represents not only farewell, but the promise of peace, renewal, and the eternal journey ahead. Though she leaves this world, she goes surrounded by love, comforted by the hands and hearts of those who cherished here most. And in that love she will remain forever. SERVICES On Saturday, August 22, 2026 Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. followed by the Service at 2:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Interment will follow at the Helotes Lutheran Cemetery, 9933 Leslie Road. A Reception will follow at Zion Lutheran Church, 9944 Leslie Road.
