Charlotte Benita Widner (McCarn) joyfully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 24, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born on November 21, 1933, in Bee County, Texas, to her loving parents, Clay and Opal McCarn. Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Emil V.A. Widner, her parents, and her brothers, Noel and Joel McCarn. On June 5, 1953, Charlotte and V.A. began their lifelong journey together, building a home filled with love, faith, and devotion. Their marriage was a testament to commitment and companionship, and Charlotte carried those same values into every aspect of her life. For 25 years, Charlotte served as a school secretary at Charles C. Ball Elementary in the San Antonio Independent School District. She left a lasting impact on countless students, families, and colleagues through her warmth, kindness, and mentorship. Her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication made her a cherished presence in the school community. Charlotte’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted member of Highland Hills (Southeast) Church of Christ, where she faithfully taught Sunday School for many years, sharing her love of God’s word with others. She found happiness in gathering with friends and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society, where she relished the fellowship and fun of luncheons with her fellow “Red Hat Ladies.” Charlotte’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Kathy Volz (David) and Bryan Widner; grandchildren, Jason Widner, Crystal Volz Oprea (Shane), Dustin Widner, Jeremy Volz (Shara), Tyson Widner, Tracy Volz, and Katelyn Widner; and great-grandchildren, Payten Oprea, McKenzie Volz, Parker Oprea, Courtlyn Volz, Presten Oprea, Drew Volz, Porter Oprea, Jacoby Widner, Bradyn Widner, Sadie Widner, Hunter Widner, Elliana Widner, and Lily Widner. She is also survived by her dear sister, Oleta Moore (McCarn), her brother, Danny McCarn (Jackie), and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held on Monday, March 3rd, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South in San Antonio, TX. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Reverend Donald Volz. She will be laid to rest at Pawnee Cemetery, 15230 W SH-72, Kenedy, TX 78119. Charlotte’s life was one of faith, love, and service to others. Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness will continue to inspire all who knew her.
