Concepción “Concha” Flores passed peacefully at home on September 7, 2022, at the age of 90. She was born on December 8, 1931, in Houston, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Alejo Zapata and Simona Lómas; son Eleazar Flores; siblings Alejo Zapata, Jr., Francisco Zapata, Gilberto Zapata, Octavio Zapata, and Lucila Rodríguez. She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Jesús Flores; children Rubén Flores (María), Rosa Elia Izquierdo (Oscar), Arcelia Cordoba (Ramiro), Armandina Flores (Cynthia) and Arnoldo Flores; siblings Eloina Correa (Martín) and Emiliano Zapata (Graciela, dec.); grandchildren Rubén Jr., Wendy, Melissa, Christian, Maryvel, Erik, Mayra, Rosa del Carmen, Oscar Jr., Nikolas, Vanessa, Annette, Everest (Elizabeth), Rebekkah and Alma; great-grandchildren Denise, Rubén III, Ximena, Melyna, Alexy, Alan, Derek, Monzerrat, Orion, Emma Kay, Aerial, Victoria, Emily, Micah and Leonardo; daughter-in-law Amanda Flores and niece Elvira Morales. The family would like to express their appreciation to Concepción’s caregivers Maribel Morales, Maria Martinez and Ericka Daubar for the unwavering support and care they provided for not only Concha, but the entire family. There are not enough words to express what Concha meant in the lives of so many. She was a talented musician and musical teacher; an incomparable seamstress; a dedicated mother, wife and friend; and above all, a caretaker. She spent the majority of her life taking care of those around her, whether or not they were a part of her family. Concha was the best mother and grandmother that her family could have asked for. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Esperamos que estés descansando en tu paraíso eterno. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with a procession to depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South. A reception will follow the internment at St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
