Cynthia “Cindy” Kay Cox was born on October 22, 1958, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to James Dean Hull and Marian LaNelle (Black) Hull. Cindy was the eldest of two children. Though her roots began in Oklahoma, Cindy always said she got to Texas as quickly as she could—a reflection of the pride and identity she carried throughout her life. She grew up in Houston on Osage Street alongside her younger brother Steve, where the two built lifelong memories, often getting into harmless mischief with neighborhood friends, including the Nichols and James family. Cindy graduated from Sharpstown High School ’77, before heading to Austin to attend the University of Texas from 1977 to 1981, where she studied Communication Sciences. Her time in Austin left a permanent impression on her—she was a proud and loyal Longhorn who never stopped cheering for the Burnt Orange and White. While working in the Finance Department at Litton Resources, Cindy met Mark Cox. Together, they raised two children, Matthew and Amanda, who became the center of her world, finding immense pride in their accomplishments. She especially cherished watching Matt attend her father’s alma mater, New Mexico Military Institute, and later serve in the Texas National Guard. With Amanda, she shared a love of travel and adventure, music, concerts, Disney, creating memories across the world that she held close to her heart. Cindy loved baseball and was past President of Houston’s Bayland Park Little League where both Matt and Amanda made Mom proud. Cindy moved to San Antonio in 1998, then eventually found her calling in real estate. Her natural warmth, energy, and ability to connect with people allowed Cindy to thrive. She built lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike, beginning with Coldwell Banker, which she fondly considered her first “work family” from 1999 to 2013. She later continued her passion helping homeowner's dreams come true with Touchdown TC, aiding and reviewing real estate contracts in several states for a successful sale. To Cindy, real estate was never about transactions—it was about people, trust, and helping others find a place to belong. Cindy is a past President of San Antonio Women’s Council of Realtors where she made many trips to Austin to personally address State Leadership and represented at WCR State and National events. One endeavor Cindy was extremely committed to was facilitating land purchases in the Hill Country for the Homes for Our Troops organization who helped dozens of Disabled Veterans acquire property for custom built homes to meet their special needs. Cindy will be remembered for her vibrant personality, dedication, deep love for family, and her ability to make others feel welcomed and valued. She had a passionate sense of loyalty to those she loved, a quick wit, and a spirit that could light up any room. In her quiet time, she enjoyed watching American Idol/Masked Singer type competitions and the long running “Days of Our Lives.” Cindy often cruised the web looking at Estate Sales for unique items and those from her childhood. When riding in her car you would hear the bands “Yes,” “The Rolling Stones” or “Chicago” playing loudly. She found pleasure in simple things like scented lotions, good perfumes, and thick fuzzy socks. Whether cheering on her Nephew Denson’s Baseball career, The Longhorns, The Astros (huge fan), traveling with her daughter, or supporting her son’s journey, she lived her life with enthusiasm and heart. Cindy was also a devoted pet owner, having a special affection for Dachshund dogs, driving great distances to adopt rescue dogs and give them a “forever home.” She leaves her two pups, Carly and Sandy, in the loving care of her children. In her final days, Cindy renewed her faith, was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, embraced in eternal love. Cindy is survived by her children, Matthew Ryan Cox and Amanda Leigh Cox; her brother, Stephen James Hull; her nephew, Denson James Hull; and a large extended family of cousins and loved ones who will carry her memory forward. Her ashes will be spread by immediate family alongside her parents at Little River Baptist Cemetery in Milam County.
