Cynthia Marie Fondulis, 66, of San Antonio, Texas went to her rightful place in heaven on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Northeast Methodist Hospital. Her passing was due to complications of Friedreichs Axtaxia. A mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 11:30 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in San Antonio. Cindy was born February 11, 1952 in Schenectady, New York to Thomas and Helen Summers (O’Connor). She graduated from Schalmont High School and later graduated from SUNY Cobleskill College with a degree in children’s education. While in college she met John Fondulis and was married for 39 years. Being a military wife, she traveled the world and made many friends along the way. She was always involved with her community. She assisted in teaching children at the school her sons attended. She was a member of many groups including the military women’s group, and as a survivor of cancer she was involved with the cancer group and race for the cure. She also volunteered her time to visit those in nursing homes. And even though she was wheelchair bound for 39 years due to Friedreichs Ataxia, it never slowed her down. She spent every minute on the go and enjoying life. She loved to travel, bake, sew, attend plays and ballets. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. John Neumann Church. As a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend she showered us with her affection and kindness. Cindy’s spirit, strength, courage, and compassion will continue to inspire those who knew her. She showed us all how to live life to the fullest. To know her was to truly love her, and she blessed us all with her love. She is preceded in death by her father Thomas Summers on October 29, 2012; and her brother David Summers on March 17, 1991. She is survived by her mother Helen Summers of Schenectady, New York; her sister Karen Summers of Lake Jackson, Texas; her sons and daughters-in-law Ryan and Lara Fondulis of Cibolo, Texas, and Damon and Nicole Fondulis of Red Rock, Texas; her three grandchildren Andy, Lyla, and Indy Fondulis; and many family and friends. Her family would appreciate a donation to the National Ataxia Foundation in lieu of flowers in her honor.
