Martinez Cynthia Lopez Martinez "Cindy" beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and grandmother went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the age of 53. Cindy graduated from Southside High School as the Valedictorian. She continued her education at Texas A&I University in Kingsville where she received her undergraduate and Masters degrees, graduating with honors. Upon graduation, Cindy returned to her beloved community, and began a long career as an Educator at Southside I.S.D. She spent 30 dedicated years at Southside. She began as a Home Economics teacher, then Counselor, Director of Federal Programs, and ended her career as the Director of Human Resources. She loved her Cardinals – there was a reason she was often wearing red - and only retired because of illness. Later in life, Cindy found another passion – Mary Kay. She was a consultant for many years, and truly found joy in selling make-up to her clients. Cindy loved to sew, do arts & crafts, ride bikes, and take care of her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, but most of all she loved to dance. While in good health, Cindy was active in the A.C.T.S community, having served in several retreats. She was also an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Cindy was preceded in death by her mother Ruth V. Lopez and elder sister, Rachel Lopez. She is survived by her husband Raul G. Martinez, daughters Amanda N. Castillo Vincent, and Samantha S. Martinez, father Roger G. Lopez, brothers Roger R. Lopez Carol Voges, and Robert V. Lopez Molly, sister Sandra A. Solis Nick, granddaughters Adalyn Ruth, Jolene Grace, and Cassedy Brynn, grandson Jarrett Jace, nephew James Maikal, nieces Jaidynne Ruthe, Francesca Raquel, and Genevieve Ruth, sister-in-law Celi Aldrich Kenneth, mother-in-law Aurora G. Martinez, and aunt Conchita Balderrama. She was dearly loved, and will be sorely missed by numerous relatives, and many, many friends. Services Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. ~ 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at El Carmen Catholic Church. Interment will follow at El Carmen Catholic Cemetery. Flowers are appreciated, however, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association ADA in memory of Cindy and her mother.
