Martinez Our beloved father Daniel S. Martinez, Sr. left us to be with our Lord on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the age of 81. He was born on October 22, 1929 in Calvert, Texas. Daddy was preceded in death by his second wife Carmen Martinez, his brother William Martinez and his sister Elanor Barron. He is survived by his loving daughter and son in law, Delia and Richard Campos; son, Hector Hernandez; son, David Martinez; son and daughter in law, Daniel Jr. and Beronica Martinez; son and daughter in law, Antonio and Natalie Martinez; grandchildren, Richard Campos Jr., Albert Campos, Marissa Carmen Martinez, Daniel S. Martinez III and Niah Martinez; great- grandchildren, Carmen and Elizabeth Campos. Dad was also survived by his sister Carmen Elfrez and numerous nieces and nephews who would refer to dad as "Uncle Dan". Daddy proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was only 18 years old when he boarded the ship to go to war. He was a proud veteran and he loved to tell his stories to anyone who would listen regarding that time period in his life. He called San Antonio home after a short stint in Seattle, Washington while working for Boeing. He landed a job with Kelly AFB as a sheet metal machinist, where he gave 27 years of service to the civil service program. Dad went on to work at Penske where he would love to drive the trucks, to and from truck stations with his group of friends who also retired from Kelly AFB. He loved being with his children and family. You could always count on dad to be at someone's sporting events during the past years. Most of our friends memories of our dad had to do with our extra-curricular activities, where you could bet that dad would be rooting for them as well as his own children. Memorial services will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North on Thursday September 29; Public Viewing will be from 5 to 9 pm and a memorial service will be held at 7pm. On Friday September 30, 2011 at 10:00 am Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church at 102 Lorenz Road. Interment will follow to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association 912 Killian Hill Road, S. W. in Lilburn, GA 30047. We will always love you Dad!
