Moreno David Moreno, Sr., 68, of San Antonio, TX went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2012. He was surrounded by his wife of forty-eight years and three children as he entered into eternal rest. He was born in Beeville, TX, to Epfanio and Benita Moreno, whom preceded him in death. David grew up in Corpus Christi, TX where he met his beautiful bride, Celina Alaniz. After attending Ella Barnes Junior High and Roy Miller High Schools, David proudly served in The United States Air Force for four years. It was during his tenure in the military, that David wed the love of his life, Celina. Together, they were stationed at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco, TX. It was also during his time in the Air Force that David was a member of the Boxing Team which fostered his life-long love of the sport. In 1969, David began his career with The Reliable Life Insurance Co. His rapid advancement through the company resulted in relocating his family from Corpus Christi to El Paso and later to San Antonio where he resided with his family for the last thirty-five years. David was the first Hispanic to serve on the Board of Directors for the Reliable Life Insurance Co. and the first minority to hold an executive office within the company. David retired as a Division Director and Vice President in 2004. During his retirement, David's passion was his weekly golf game and following The University of Texas Longhorn Football Team, the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. David enjoyed traveling with his wife, sister-in-law, Ester Alaniz, and brother-in-law, Adolfo Alaniz, whom was also his best friend. After God and his wife, David's greatest love was for his "boys," his three grandsons: David Moreno, III, Peter Agustin Delgado, and Diego Andres Moreno. David is survived by his wife, Celina Moreno and his three children: Bonnie Moreno of San Antonio, TX, David Niza Lashay Moreno, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Cynthia Ann Pete Delgado of San Antonio, TX, and his three grandsons. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
