Dawn Michelle Mulder, of Spring Branch, TX gained her wings and joined Jesus on September 15, 2016. She was born in Dallas, TX and raised in San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Roosevelt High School, received her Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southwest Texas State University and her Master's Degree in Library Sciences from Texas Women's University. She married the love of her life, Steven Mulder, on August 19, 1995 in San Antonio, TX and they have been traveling through life together ever since. Her biggest accomplishment in life was being a mom. Her children John, Megan, Mallory and Madelyn were the lights of her life. Being 'Tootsie' to her first grand daughter, Rory Gabrielle Owen brought so much joy to her as well. We all learned many life lessons from Dawn while she was here on Earth, among them; always eat the cake, never let anyone tell you that you're not good enough and you're perfect the way you are. Dawn was a huge music fan – as much as we would tease her when she would belt out Sammy Hagar in the car, we all secretly sang along with her. Family vacations were something that she loved as well; spending time with everyone together along with finishing a few books was exactly how she loved spending her summer vacations. Dawn truly loved her job and her joy for reading and books shined through every single day! She has instilled the love of reading into thousands of children and is now spreading that love in Heaven. Dawn shared her love for education and books at Bill Brown Elementary, Rahe Bulverde Elementary and most recently, Rolling Meadows Elementary, where she was elected Educator of the Year. Along with that love she also had a love for serving others and was a beloved member of the Women's Club of San Antonio. Her father, Herchel Welch and grandparents Earl and Gladys Redford preceded her in death. She was survived by her loving and adoring husband Steven Mulder, children John Owen Rhiannon, Megan Owen, Mallory Mulder and Madelyn Mulder, granddaughter Rory Owen, parents, Mike and Rhonda Barnes, mother and father in love, Wayne and Barbara Duncan, sister Stacey Welch Rosenbaum, brothers Todd Welch Theresa and Christopher Welch, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Dawn will always be remembered for her contagious smile and positive attitude. Her huge heart and caring personality will never be forgotten. Dawn's favorite color was red; please join us in celebration of her life by wearing red. In lieu of flowers, please bring your favorite children's book to be donated in Dawn's honor to local schools and SA Literacy.
