Deneen McMurry Cochran, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022 surrounded by her family. She was born January 2, 1936, in Bailey, Texas to Lila Mae and Wyatt McMurry. The family moved to Bonham, Texas where Deneen was raised and met the one man with whom she would share her life, John D. Cochran. They were high school sweethearts and on June 9, 1956 were married at the First Methodist Church of Bonham. Deneen worked as an executive assistant in Fort Worth and Houston while John attended dental school. They began their family in Altus, Oklahoma where John completed his commitment to the Air Force. In 1960, they moved to San Antonio. It was there that they raised their children and made countless lifelong friends. An excellent cook and consummate host, Deneen enjoyed preparing holiday dinners for extended family and friends. “Dee”, as called by her grandchildren, was adored for her southern cooking and legendary buttermilk cake. She was a force to be reckoned with, fiercely independent and counterbalanced by an untempered love for her family and friends. Deneen was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of The San Antonio Dental Alliance where she served as President and was a member for over 60 years. She was a long-time member of Oak Hills Country Club where she spent many Sundays after church playing golf. Her real passion was Bridge, which she played weekly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John D. Cochran; son-in-law, Tom J. Fatjo Jr. and sister, Jo McGouirk. Deneen is survived by her children; son, Devin and wife Eileen, daughter, Shawnna Fatjo, son, Kelly and wife Catherine; grandchildren, Cullen Cochran and wife Hilary, Ian Cochran and Jack Cochran, Austin Fatjo and wife Ally, Ashley Fatjo, Jacqueline Wiggs and husband David and Channing Fatjo, Jonathan Cochran and Lauren Cochran; great grandchildren, John Cochran, Walker Fatjo and Kennedy Fatjo. The family would like to thank the wonderful people that cared for Deneen in her final weeks. She loved their company and truly viewed them as friends.Thank you, Barbara, Liz, Yolanda, Lydia and Delores as well as all of the people at The Towers at Park Lane. SERVICES Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 404 North Alamo, San Antonio, TX 78205. Deneen will be laid to rest at Ft.
