Diana Elizabeth Clayton, age 78, of Schertz, formerly of San Antonio, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 16, 2022, surrounded by family. Diana was born on August 10, 1944, in San Antonio, to the late Manuel and Evangelina Ovalle Williams. Following high school, Diana went to work as a representative for USAA, then moved into a role with the company of Sears where she served as a secretary and customer service representative. After her time with Sears, she worked at at a Christian radio station known as KCHG. After leaving KCHG in the early 90s, she began working as an administrative office assistance for Dr. Terry Peters, for 10 years. She then went to work with Dr. Bonnie Mitchell owner of Phoenix Chiropractic until mid 2000’s when she retired. Diana married the love of her life and her best friend, Richard Clayton, on May the 3rd 1985 at the Bexar County Courthouse. Together Diana and Richard would spend the next 24 years sharing life, traveling the United States, and living a lifetime of memories. Richard preceded her in death on July the 30th 2009. Diana was a Godly woman who loved her church. She was a dedicated member of the of the Omega Church for over 25 years. She had a deep passion for the United States Military and the San Antonio Police Department, where her husband retired after a 30-year career. Diana loved to travel all over the United States, but many of her best memories came on her frequent trips to the Foxfire Cabins at Lost Maples State Park. She enjoyed all things Texas, especially bluebonnets and hummingbirds, and had a special place in her heart for her beloved dachshunds. In her free time, Diana enjoyed sewing and many of her children and grandchildren still treasure the quilts she made for them over the years. Those who knew Diana best will remember a Godly woman who relentless in her desire to remain positive and steadfast while always serving those around her. Diana is survived by daughter Cynthia Zumwalt, her husband Nathan Zumwalt their children Justin Zumwalt, Brianna Zumwalt and Tyler Zumwalt of San Antonio. Her son Donald Williams, his wife Kmel Williams, daughters Alora Byington her husband Neil Byington and daughter Saoirse Byington, Shian Di Giovanni her husband Daniel Di Giovanni and children Sicilee Di Giovanni Roman Di Giovanni of San Antonio. Grandsons Joshua C. Sandoval, and wife Sarah A. Sandoval and children Isabell Sandoval, Mary Sandoval and Christian Sandoval of St. Hedwig, Jacob I Sandoval his wife Kaitlin Sandoval and daughter Aria Sandoval of Annapolis Maryland. Her sister Alice Chandler and her husband James Chandler. A memorial service for Diana Elizabeth Clayton will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 29th, 2022, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels – South. 1700 S.E. Military Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214.
