Tributes

Donald William Boehme was born on July 25, 1936 in Hondo, Texas. He passed away on July 21, 2026. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathleen Laake Boehme, parents Isabell and William Boehme, sister Frances Lee and her husband Bob Lee, and nephew Bill Lee. He is survived by his sons Michael and Gerard, daughters-in-law Judi and Elaine, and six grandchildren: Michael Anthony, Gabriel, Daniel, Anabel, Nathanael, and Samuel. Rio Medina,Tx was Donald’s birthplace. He attended Rio Media Elementary School from 1st through 4th grade, during which time he received his Private Holy Communion at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville, Tx. He then attended St. Louis Elementary school from 5th through 8th grade, during which time he received his Solemn Holy Communion. Donald attended St. Louis High School for 9th through 12th grade. He graduated from St. Louis in 1954 . Upon graduating he enrolled at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in May of 1959. Donald began his career at Handy Andy Supermarkets as the assistant to the Manager of the Merchandising Department. He held the position for ten years. Donald then spent one year as an assistant manager of Pearl Brewing Company and the next six years working in Counter Sales in the main office of Kuntz Lumber Company. He spent the next 25 years as a buyer for Data Point and Senior Buyer for VLSI/Phillips in the Semiconductor Industry. As a staunch Catholic, Donald’s fatih was of great importance to him. In keeping with his faith, Donald was as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in San Antonio and supported St. Gregory’s school as a parent and as a member of the PTC. He was a member of the RCIA team and attended Eucharistic Adoration weekly. During retirement Donald took classes to become a Master Gardener in order to perfect the skills associated with his favorite hobby. He in turn applied those skills to assist with landscaping at the church. Family and friends recognized him for having a green thumb and the most beautiful yard in the neighborhood.
