Donald Juan Denver, Sr., of Converse, TX, departed this earth for his Heavenly Home, on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Donald was born in Holden, WVA, to John M. Denver and Vada Collier, and grew up in Ragland, WVA. He graduated from Burch High School in Delbarton, WVA, in May 1955 and enlisted in the Air Force. During his service he was assigned to San Antonio, where he met his future wife, Jessie Barbara Bell in 1956. They were married January 12, 1957. On February 11, 1958 the first of his four children, Donald Jr., was born and 2 months later, he was reassigned to Selfridge AFB, Michigan. He completed his 4-yr Active Duty Commitment to the Air Force in August 1959. After his discharge and some time at home with his family in West Virginia, he moved to Albion, MI and lived there until July 1960, and returned to San Antonio where he added three more children to this union, Richie Alan, Kim, and daughter, Tammi Renai. His parents, John and Vada Denver and his sister, Dolores McCoy, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Denver, of Converse, TX; sons, Donald J. Denver, Jr., Richie Alan Denver Stacey, Kim Denver, and daughter, Tammi Renai. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Christopher Aaron Denver Brooke, Heather Beavers, Christopher Jared Denver, Jenna Denver, Desiree Garza, Erika Osorio Hector, Destiny McGrath Pat, and Lexus Denver Rost Cody; Great-grandchildren, Isaiah Garza, Adrian Perez, Marcelo Denver, Autiana Garza, Colton Denver, Juliana Davila, Carolina Osorio, Kamara Osorio, Jay Garcia, Axton Bauer, and Hector Osorio, III; sister, Charlotte Hubbard of Florida; brother, John M. Denver, San Antonio, and several nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Don was known and loved by all and was especially known for his excellent yard work, and keeping his cars in mint condition. In May 1977, Don accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Highlands Assembly of God Church, and was there until 1997 when he moved to Converse, TX and transferred his letter to Victory Assembly of God Church in Universal City, TX, which was still his home church at time of death. Special thanks extended to VITAS Hospice for their loving care and support. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mission Park North, Cherry Ridge. A Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Victory Assembly of God Church, 1012 Byrd Blvd., Universal City, TX. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
