It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Michael Giesy, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, who left us on June 8th, 2024. He was born on May 19, 1963 to Erlinda Rubio and the late Martin Charles Giesy III. Donald was a beloved son, devoted father to Justin Giesy, and a proud grandfather to Evan Giesy and Kinley Giesy. Donald was the kind of person who never met a stranger. His warmth and friendliness were evident in the way he made everyone feel welcome at his BBQs. Whether hosting gatherings at his home or striking up conversations while grocery shopping, Donald had a gift for making connections and spreading joy. He knew the names and stories of many store employees, always taking the time to chat and share a smile. Donald had an incredible will to live and an indomitable spirit. Even in his last days, he would still try to walk, demonstrating his relentless fight to survive and his desire to stay connected with the world around him. His preference for walking and taking the bus around town reflected his love for a simple, grounded life and his commitment to staying active. He is survived by his loving mother Erlinda Rubio, his devoted son Justin Giesy, his treasured grandchildren Evan and Kinley Giesy, and his brothers Joseph Giesy and Raul Sifontes. He was preceded in death by his father Martin Charles Giesy III and his brother Martin Charles Giesy IV. As well as his nieces and nephews. Donald’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held at Alamo Funeral Chapels on June 19th, 2024 at 4pm, where we will gather to honor and remember the wonderful man he was. Most importantly, in his final days, Donald and his son Justin prayed together as he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Alamo Funeral Chapels. A procession will depart the funeral home on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. graveside service at San Fernando #3.
