Donald Rudolph Henze, Sr., age 89, of San Antonio, TX passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at his house in Rockport, TX, attended by family members. Donald was born on January 16, 1935 in Southton, TX to John and Clara (Borgfeld) Henze. He graduated from East Central High School in 1954. On September 17, 1955 he married the love of his life, Diana A. Rittimann, and they shared 69 wonderful years together. Donald was a mechanic at City Public Service, retiring after 26 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, taking trips in his recreational vehicle and tending to the cattle on his farm. Donald was a member of Bexar Bowling Club, Bracken Bowling Club and Highland Social Club. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, John & Clara, and his brothers: Harold Henze (Clara), Rubert Henze (Suanne) and August Henze (Bessie). Donald is survived by his loving wife, Diana; his two sons: Donald “Butch” Henze (Diana) and Darrel Henze (Shelly); 8 grandchildren: Bradley Henze (McKenzie), Lori Friesenhahn (Lucas), Stephanie Henze, Kelly Henze (Lauren), Cody Henze (Adrienne), Jeffrey Henze (Taylor), Tristen Henze (Sierra), Peyton Henze, and “adopted granddaughter” Amber (Moczygemba) Leatherwood (Calvin); 17 great grandchildren: Ava Henze, Kaylie Friesenhahn, Emily Friesenhahn, Megan Friesenhahn, Avery Henze, Charlotte Henze, Elijah Rodriguez, Bryce Henze, Kaison Henze, Sawyer Henze, Jaxsen Henze, Brooks Henze, Kade Henze, Cameron Henze, Quinn Henze, Carson Henze, Bennett Henze, and multiple nieces and nephews. Plus, there is another little Henze girl on the way! Donald will be greatly missed by all who knew him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The family will be accepting visitors on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, 1700 SE Military Dr, San Antonio, TX 78214, with a rosary at 6:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10:00 am at Holy Name Catholic Church, 3814 Nash Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78223, followed by interment at San Jose Burial Park, 8235 Mission Rd, San Antonio, TX 78214.
