DORIS JEAN WILSON HOLMES SUNRISE, MARCH 27, 1930 – SUNSET, SEPTEMBER 27, 2014 Doris Jean Wilson was the first born to Herbert Mitchell Wilson, Sr. and Mary Garcia Wilson. After her were four brothers, Herbert Mitchell Wilson, Jr., Marvin Wilson, Lee Andrew Willson and Norris Wilson. Doris committed herself to God at an early age at the Capote Baptist Church. She totally committed herself to education, completing 12 years at St. Peter Cleaver School for which she lived on campus. After completing her education she met and married Hines Allen and to this union was born one child, Lynnetta "Lynn" Carol Allen. At the completion of this union in 1965 she met and married Laurence Richard Holmes and in this union they lovingly adopted and raised Janesta Yalane Holmes, affectionately known by all as "Teensy". Doris worked various jobs as Laurence served his country by serving in the U.S. Army overseas. During this time Doris accomplished her dream by opening her very own elderly care home for women, 'Holmes' House of Care and Concern'. She took great care in caring for the women in the home for over 25 years until her health began to fail. Doris took great pleasure in telling everybody about her family and her great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren she had. Often realizing why she talked so much about her family, she understood why, her family spanned five generations. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lee Andrew Wilson and Marvin Wilson. Doris is survived by her husband of 49 years, Laurence Richard Holmes; daughters, Lynnetta "Lynn" Louden and Janesta "Teensy" Moore; grandchildren, Ace Mabry and wife, Brandy, Paula Mabry and Laurence Mabry; brothers, Herbert Mitchell Wilson, Jr., of Yucaipa, California and Norris Wilson Lilly Bell of Fontana, California; 14 great grandchildren; 14 great, great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. The family would like to say a special thank you to Diashan "Dee" Thompson for taking such good care of our mom for many years, she loved you dearly and lovingly considered you as her other 'daughter', also to Davita Dialysis, for the many years of patience and loving care. Mama, your beautiful smile and presence will be truly missed; we love you, your girls. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Dellcrest Funeral Home located at 2023 South W. W. White Road. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tree Mount Temple Church, located at 787 G Street. A private burial for the family, will be on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
