Doris J. (Borkowski) Rea, born October 29, 1930, to A. Marie (Morgan) and George S. Borkowski, in St. Joseph, MO, died June 25th, 2021 in San Antonio TX. She graduated from Sacred Heart Convent High School, attended St. Joseph Junior College and Mt. St. Scholastica College in Atchison KS; then took her internship at St Mary’s Hospital, Kansas City, MO, to become an ASCP Registered Medical Technologist. She married Lawrence W. (Larry – L.W.) Rea on August 8, 1953, at St Francis Xavier Church, St. Joseph, MO. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father; and brother, Jerrold L. Borkowski, and one daughter, Mary Stoll. She is survived by children— Robert Rea of Lakewood CA, John and Elizabeth Rea of Colorado Springs CO, and Sharon and Ramon Mendez of Corpus Christ TX. Grandchildren – Aaron (& Brittany) Stoll, Alicia (& Thor) Kooda, Anthony (& Tia Selby) Rea, Allison Rea, Anna (& Anderson) Jimenez, Daniel (& Amber) Rea, David Rea, Adriane (& B.J.) Ferraro, Andrew (&Tom) Haas, and Alyssa Mendez. Great Grandchildren—William, Nathan and Gavin Ferraro; Callan and Cooper Stoll; Carter and Cora Rea; Autumn and Austin Kooda, Aliana Jo Rea, and Elena Mae Jimenez. Great, Great Granddaughter Liliana Ferraro. Mrs. Rea worked at hospitals and private laboratories at various locations throughout her husband’s Air Force career. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Helotes, TX, where she was a member of the altar society, serving as vice president at one time; and a lector for many years. In addition, she served on various projects and retreats. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who dearly loved caring for her grandchildren and watching all of their activities. Visitation will be 6-8pm on July 8th, 2021 at Mission Park North Funeral Home, 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, TX 78230, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm on July 8th, 2021. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on July 9th, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 13715 Riggs Rd, Helotes, TX 78023. A reception will follow at the church hall. She will be laid to rest at 10:00 am on July 13th at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery Shelter 1, if you can make it, please be there by 9:45am.
