C R I S W E L L Dorothy Marie Criswell of San Antonio went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2007. She was a faithful member of Sherrill Hills Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. Mrs. Criswell was born on March 1, 1916 in Austin, Texas where she grew up. Her parents owned and operated the Maerki Bakery on Congress Ave. After attending the University of Texas Mrs. Criswell worked for the Texas Railroad Commission. During this time she met Thomas Criswell, a U.T. pharmacy major. After graduation they married and Mr. Criswell joined the Army. This was the beginning of many years of exciting travel taking them to numerous parts of the U.S., Korea and Japan. While in Japan she volunteered for the Red Cross, took cooking and Japanese flower arranging classes and traveled with the officers wives club. She also enjoyed playing bridge, dominoes, football, rug making and oil painting. The most important part of Moms life was her relationship with God and loving and enjoying the company of family and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lt. Col. Thomas Criswell; her parents, Henry and Lillie Maerki; her sister, Minna Mae Maerki; and her brother, Stanley Maerki. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann Castles and her husband Pike of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Jean Elizabeth Dale and her husband Bob of Houston, Texas. She also leaves four grandchildren; Robert Thomas Dale and wife Jacki; Kimberlye Marie Hastings and husband Rick; Cristopher Pike Castles and wife Kim; Randall Lee Castles and wife Kim ; 11 great grandchildren, 1 niece and 4 nephews. SERVICES A visitation will be held from 6:00 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A chapel service will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, November 30, 2007 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Sherrill Hills Baptist Church Missions Fund. Our love and appreciation go out for Martha Mac Lauchlan, mothers friend and companion and loving caregiver for many years; and to Rosemary Ndegwa and Alma Almeda of Integrity Services for their excellent care during her last days.
