Dreama Darlene Ball passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, in San Antonio, TX, at the age of 90. The oldest of seven children, she was born in Roanoke, Virginia on May 15, 1934, to her loving parents, Lawrence and Hettie Dent. Dreama was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, William Norman Ball, to whom she was a proud and devoted wife for nearly 50 years. Dreama made it her life’s mission to serve as a military wife and mother with unwavering loyalty and a loving partnership full of faith and laughter. She is survived by her son Rodney Ball; her daughter Debra Lawson and her husband Kevin; and her son Glendon Ball and his wife Veronica. Dreama is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Walter Ball and wife Rebecca, Sierra Lawson and wife Carolyn, and Kymberly Renaud and husband Benjamin; and her great-grandchildren Madisyn Ball, Avonlea Ball, and Elliott Renaud. Dreama is survived by her brothers Kenneth Dent and Clark Dent. She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Barbara Rowell, and younger brothers Everett Dent, Stuart Dent, and Jack Dent. Known to her grandchildren as Granny, Dreama will always be remembered for her love and devotion to family, strong faith, her banana puddin’, and her feisty nature. Her smile and laughter will live on as a cherished legacy passed down to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dreama’s faith was the cornerstone of her life, shaping her into the loving, feisty, and fiercely independent matriarch her family adored. She could whip up wisdom and banana puddin’ with equal ease, ensuring that both nourished those lucky enough to share her table. Dreama was generous with her cooking and recipes, many of which have been passed down several generations to become staples of family gatherings. Dreama Darlene was frequently the source of joy and laughter, often dispensing it generously during a game of Left-Right-Center with a twinkle in her eye that let you know she saw the humor in just about everything. Her grandchildren came to know Granny as a great storyteller and their unmatched cheerleader. Her smile and laughter remain etched into the hearts of her family, a legacy passed down to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren like family heirlooms, reminding them to find joy in every moment. Family and home were her life, and she dedicated herself to creating a warm and welcoming space for those she loved. Her loyalty and commitment to her friends were equally unwavering, especially to her devoted friend Amparo Garcia, whose bond with Dreama was cherished deeply by both. Dreama’s hardworking nature and steadfast dedication to her family and friends left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her during her ninety years. A celebration of Dreama’s life will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge, where her legacy of love, strength, generosity, and kindness will be honored by those who cherished her. Dreama will be lovingly and deeply missed but will live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew and loved her.
