EDGAR HARRY TREY VON SCHEELE, III December 25, 1958 – September 12, 2014 A joyous and playful man with an infectious laugh has departed from his loved ones way too soon. At the age of 55, Trey von Scheele, slipped away in his sleep on the morning of September 12th and found peace among the heavens. A generous, devoted, loving father and confidant to countless friends, Trey was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Edgar H. von Scheele, Sr. & Vivian von Scheele and his maternal grandparents, Jack Preston Leonard and Judy Givens. Trey was born and raised in San Antonio, a city where he grew up and enjoyed life to the end. He attended John Marshall High School and was an active member of the FFA and 4-H clubs, which allowed him to display his knowledge and love for animals & ranching. He worked for his father at the Village Inn and the Smoky Saloon, and then in the family business. In 1988, he married Pam McCulloch and had three children. Throughout his life, Trey never met a stranger – two legged or four legged – he couldn't befriend, be it a stray dog, baby possums, barn owls or even twin skunks. Trey was such a genuine person; every friend he made was a friend for life. The children in the neighborhood all loved Trey and he welcomed them into his home and treated them as his own. In return, they thought of him as a second father and affectionately called him "Papa Bear". Trey is survived by his mother & father, Sondra Kaye Beamus & Edgar H. von Scheele, Jr.; as well as his ex-wife, Pam M. von Scheele, along with their three children, Trevor Ross von Scheele, Trenton Chase von Scheele and Taylor Rae von Scheele, and a granddaughter Jaycee von Scheele. He is also survived by his brother; Timothy P. von Scheele, ex-wife, Virginia Snell von Scheele, their children Stefanie Marie von Scheele, Kristin Lynn von Scheele, Timothy Preston von Scheele, II and Victoria Tori Ann von Scheele; his sister, Vicki Lynn von Scheele Lenz, her husband, Charles Lenz, her sons, Tyler Jack Crabb & Zachary Davis Crabb, his sister Valerie Louise von Scheele Chew, her husband, Edgar Chew, and her sons, Brian Tanner Gonzales & Tucker Chew. Trey also has numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels, North. The celebration of Trey's life will be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on Friday, Sept. 19, at 9:00am and his interment will follow immediately at Mission Park, North.
