CASILLAS On April 21, 2009, Edmea Garcia Casillas, "Mommie," as she was so lovingly known by all who knew and loved her, was called by Our Lord to be with Him forever. Mrs. Casillas was born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico on August 24, 1910 and married the love of her life, Alfredo Casillas, in 1935. A devoted wife and loving mother of three sons, eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grand children, Mommie will be missed deeply and sadly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Casillas; parents, Hermenegildo and Guadalupe Garcia, brother, Everardo Garcia, and sisters Consuelo Garcia Huarte, Pura De Leon, Emira Garcia, and Amparo Garcia. She is survived by her three sons: Albert Casillas spouse, Margaret; Dr. Ernest Casillas spouse, Karen; and Patrick Casillas spouse, Holly. Grandchildren include: Dr. Michael Casillas spouse, Jessica; Dr. Mark Casillas spouse, Kimberly; Alfred Casillas spouse, Diana; Celeste Casillas, Thomas Casillas spouse, Debra; Alexander Casillas spouse, Nancy; Samantha spouse, Bernard O'Brien; Jeremy Casillas spouse, Debra. Great-grandchildren include: Julian and Matthew Casillas; Mary Morgan, Elizabeth Anne and David Casillas; Daniel and Olivia Casillas; Mary, Lily, and Henry Casillas; Alexander, Emily and Anthony Casillas; and Bernard O'Brien; sister Guadalupe Guerra of Commerce, California and numerous nephews and nieces. The Casillas Family wishes to thank Mommie's neighbors and friends, Father Virgil Elizondo, the Valencia Family and Roger Maldonado and a host of others who so lovingly gave of their time to keep watch on Mommie while she continued to reside in her home. Thanks also to her many wonderful and gracious caregivers, most especially Veronica, Rebeca and Rosie, who attended to her needs in these most recent years. The Casillas Family in particular wishes to thank Bruce Brockway, M.D., Simone Norris and the kind Sisters and Staff at Incarnate Word Retirement Home, Extended Care, who cared for her until her final moments. Services Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2009 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm, at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge. A Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower, 824 Kentucky Ave, at 9:30 a.m. Pallbearers are grandsons Dr. Michael Casillas, Dr. Mark Casillas, Alfred Casillas, Alexander Casillas, Thomas Casillas and Jeremy Casillas.
