Edward John Burns, Jr, age 50 passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas with his family by his bedside. John was born on March, 16, 1972 in San Antonio, Texas. He was the son of Edward John Burns, Sr and Wanda Lee (Otis) Burns. He attended Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas. John was an avid hunter. He looked forward to going to the ranch and hunting with his Uncle Jimmy. John enjoyed all the times he spent with his children Brayden, Addelyn, and Harper, and good friend Keith at the shooting range. John was employed at the University of Texas at San Antonio from 2005 to 2014 in the Safety Department, getting to work alongside his good friend Keith. John and Amber met on the UTSA campus where he was working and she was attending college. They married on January 3, 2009 and made their home in Bandera, Texas. In 2014, John started a new job with Vaughn Construction as a safety coordinator, traveling and living in several different cities in Texas. Even though he lived away, he always came home at least twice a month to see his family. While he was with his family, he wanted to spend all the time he could with them, so he wouldn’t leave until Sunday night. John would do anything for his family and friends. Traveling back to work, John would call his friend Keith, and they talked during the late hours so John would stay awake during his long drive back. Knowing he would be in the Houston area for awhile, John purchased a new home in 2020, and moved his family so they could be together. John was devoted to his family, and respected as a boss and co-worker to everyone on his job site. John was preceded in death by his father, Edward John Burns, Sr and his grandparents. He is survived by his mother Wanda Lee (Otis) Burns; his loving wife Amber Gombert Burns of 13 years, their daughters Addelyn Maureen Burns and Harper Shaye Burns, son Brayden John Burns, daughters Kaitlyn Allison Burns and Dakota Elaine McCowan; his brother Billy Burns andwife Angie; and his grandchildren, Jace, Jax, and Bentleigh. He is also survived by his nephews Casey Burns and Nicholas Arias; his niece Sarah Arias; his numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins; his father and mother-in-law; his sister and brother-in-law and many dear friends. SERVICE Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 from 6:00pm-9:00pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 12:00pm at the funeral home chapel, with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park North.
