Edward Romeo Montreuil was born February, 9th 1923 in Lewiston, Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerelda Du-Ceau and Emil Montreuil, sisters Marie, Ida and Gertrude and brother Jerry. His loving wife Rose Marie Montreuil; daughter Geraldine Montreuil; Son in law, Luther Neil Crouch; and grandson in law, Mark Alan Hartman. Edward and Rose had six children. He is survived by Eugene Roy Montreuil and wife Mary; Jacqueline Crouch; Edward Montreuil Jr. and wife Margie; Mark Montreuil; and Janet Parish. Grandchildren Katherine Parish; Karen Jo Anne Hartman-Froboese and husband Elgin; and David J Crouch and wife Coleen. Great Grandchild, Grant Austin Froboese. Step Grandchildren, Kevin and John Froboese. His companion Dora Ann Minton and her family including the children of his heart, Lujean, Ricky and Kimberly Osborn. Edward enjoyed spending time with his five children. They took family vacations to the coast and loaded up the station wagon to go to the Mission Drive in Theatre. They would take their own snacks and have a fun time watching a movie on the big screen. He was not only a great father to his children, but an honorary father to the neighborhood kids. He would help them fix their bicycles, motorcycles and cars. They were always calling for Mr. Montreuil to help them. He had a big heart and would always help those in need. Edward was a Foreman maintenance Engineer at Fort Sam Houston Army base in San Antonio. He retired in 1985, after 30 years of service. If he wasn't at work; then he was at work in the backyard workshop he built. He enjoyed working with his hands and loved for tinkering. He would take things apart and put them back together. He enjoyed working on boat motors and loved to fish. Over the years, he owned several fishing boats. Edward would take off with his fishing buddies in search of a fish and fishing stories to bring home to the family. He enjoyed deer hunting at the family deer lease in Crystal City with his son in law Luther and friends. He took his grandkids, David and Jo Anne hunting and helped foster their love of hunting. He made homemade deer sausage and jerky. He was fearless driving around the lease. There wasn't a mesquite tree on the place that was going to slow him down! He would run over those bushes at lightning speed. Edward was very proud of his French heritage. He loved speaking in French. He was an avid dancer. He could take charge of the dance floor and was always the life of the party. His favorite pastime was dancing with companion Dora. They went dancing every Saturday night for years. He enjoyed his family and loved Dora's family as his own. Edward was called to heaven on Sunday, April 24th. Edward lived a full long life and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a wonderful, husband, father, companion, mentor, grandfather and great grandfather. He had many friends and never knew a stranger. He was loved by all. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made on his behalf to the Alzheimer's Association.
