Elanor Janell Donaho September 2, 1928 – March 29, 2017 Elanor Janell Donaho was born September 2, 1928 and went to be with her Savior on March 29, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Maj. Eddie Leon Donaho; her parents Eva Dee Williamson and Roy Johnston; brothers Weldon Johnston, Roy “Buck” Johnston, Roland Johnston, L.V. “Cotton" Johnston, Sidney Johnston, Gary Johnston; sisters Bennie Crenshaw and Jane Frazier. She is survived by her daughter Susan Ackley of Riverview, Florida; her son-in-law David Ackley, three grandchildren, Aaron Morris and his wife Angela Morris of Austin, Andrew Morris and his wife Magda of New York City, and Ashley Morris of New York City; four great grandchildren, Sophia, Aiden, Matthew and Luke; her surviving sisters, Evalyn Johnston, Charlotte Finch, Annette Dugan; her surviving brothers, Edwin Johnston and wife Lou, Douglas Johnston and wife Georgia; her surviving sisters-in-law Betty Johnston, Beverly Abercrombie, Naomi Johnston and Sheryl Johnston; and dozens of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Donaho was born in Powell, Texas, one of fourteen children. She excelled in basketball at Powell High School. During World War II she enjoyed meeting the troop trains and became a pen pal to many soldiers. She fell madly in love and married at 17 years old. She spent the first 20 years of her life as an Army wife, many of them as an Officer’s wife moving many times to different military posts. She had great beauty and a fun loving spirit. She signed every card “loads of love” and was able to make everyone laugh. She worked in the retail field eventually retiring from Sears. She enjoyed hosting parties and made lifelong friends easily. Upon her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Army, he went to work for the State of Texas which also entailed moving many times within the State. They eventually retired to San Antonio, Texas where she lived another twenty years until her husband’s death. Eventually she moved in with her only daughter and son-in-law. She moved along with them within Texas and to Georgia, Connecticut, Roatan, Honduras and Florida. She would often ask, “Isn’t it time to move yet?” She was a wonderfully fun and loving grandmother who was adored by her grandchildren. She developed Alzheimer’s in her later years and battled it for many years. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate your donations to the Elanor J.
