Eleanor Agnes Beck, born on April 17, 1911 to Minnie Ann Russell and Henry Bankston, passed away on November 23, 2004 in San Antonio. She was an active participant in many organizations, which included the Order of the Eastern Star, President of Lockhill PTA, Coker School PTA, Bexar County Council PTA, Fifth District of the Texas Congress of PTA, State PTA Chairman of Radio and Television with a Saturday morning radio program, she received a life membership in both Texas State and National Congress of PTAs, served on the Bexar County Girl Scout Council, she worked to organize the Northeast School District, served on the Board of the Community Committee for Crippled Children, she was a volunteer for the Cerebral Palsy Center, served on the Board of Directors of the Bexar County Tuberculosis Association, served on the Board of Trustees of the San Antonio Public Library, a volunteer for the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, later known as the March of Dimes, she worked to establish the Gonzales Warm Springs Foundation, she worked as Party and Organizational Planner for Raymond Russell Park, served as the Executive Director for the March of Dimes for many years until her retirement in 1968, and served as President of the Harp and Shamrock Society of San Antonio. She was truly an asset to society, and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Denise Beck. She is survived by her daughter, Jeannine Hickey and husband, Dennis of San Antonio; sons, Victor Beck and wife Janis of Austin and Edmund Beck and wife Jutta of San Antonio; grandchildren, Frank Beck and wife, Debbie, Karen Beck, Bernice Beck, Steven Hickey and Lori, the loving mother of his children, Gary Hickey and wife, Julie, Mark Hickey and Karol, the deceased loving mother of his son, and Eleanor Ruhnke and husband, Tom; great-grandchildren, Victor and Hunter Beck, David, Sara, Michael, Dylan and Ellis Hickey, Kristen, Lauren and Kimberly Ruhnke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Eleanors family is eternally grateful for the loving care she received from the Staff at Kingsley Place , Mystic Park Nursing Home and especially from Vista Care Hospice. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2004 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary recited at 7:00 PM by Deacon Robert Garza at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. The funeral mass will be on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 8:00 AM at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78228, with Father Pat Ragsdale officiating. Entombment will follow at Mission Burial Park North Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 5815 Callaghan Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78228.
