Eleanor “Nora” Gawlik, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully at her home Sunday morning, January 21, 2024, at the age of 94. She was born in Kosciusko, TX on August 24, 1929, to Kasper Dworaczyk and Frances (Drzymala) Dworaczyk. Nora was preceded in death by her husband Emil in 2014 and her son Larry in 2021 and granddaughter Jeanette in 2022. Nora was also preceded in death by her father, Kasper in 1937, and her mother, Frances in 1963. Also her sisters, Bernice Szalwinski and husband Pete. Betty Kazdoy and husband Bernard, Clara Danysch and husband Ben, Sefrina Heckford and husband R.L., and Louise Moczygemba Mingo, Pauline Dworaczyk: her brothers, Stanley Dworaczyk, Everett Dworaczyk, Hagan Dworaczyk and wife Pelagia. Nora is survived by her sons Glen Gawlik, Willie Gawlik and wife Roe, and granddaughter Shelley Gawlik-Roper. Also numerous nieces and nephews. She was a very special Aunt and will be greatly missed. Nora grew up in Kosciusko working on a farm with her siblings. She later married husband Emil in 1947. They resided in Cestohowa, TX until they moved to San Antonio in 1956. Nora was a stay-at-home mom for several years and later began working at Ideal Supermarket for the next 20 years. She was a member of the choir and Alter Society at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family on holidays and special occasions and playing bunco and dominoes with her friends. She also loved going fishing with her family on the Texas coast. Nora was very generous and helpful to her entire family and became the “go to” person. She was an animal lover and especially loved her kitty cats. Nora will be sorely missed by everyone. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Daisy Kelly, Betty Watson, Virginia Saldana, Mary Lou Hernandez, Rose Rodriguez, and Madison Ewing for their dedication and compassionate care for Nora. Funeral services for Nora will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 4535 Lord Rd. San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am with the rosary recited at 11:30 am. Funeral mass will follow at 12:00 pm. Father Dennis Jarzombek will be officiating. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery, Kosciusko, Texas.
