Elias Soto Rocha, age 76, entered into rest on September 17, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on December 17, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas. Elias served in the United States Army for three years as a payroll clerk and continued to serve the government for 43 years as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service. He was a dedicated and loyal worker and a great provider for his beloved family of eight. Elias shared 52 years of a loving marriage with his wife, Benita. He showed her unconditional love and appreciation for everything she did for him and their family. They shared a wonderful life raising their 6 children, instilling in them the importance of family and loving one another. He was a dedicated husband and father to his family. When there was a school event or activity, he was always there to support his children. He was reliable and his kids knew they could always count on him to be there when they needed him. Elias had a great sense of humor and loved to hear and tell jokes. He liked to pretend you hit his foot or arm by accident, then laugh and say "just kidding" when you poured out your heart in apology. He enjoyed sharing laughter with his loved ones. His favorite sports teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. He always loved his teams, regardless of their records or standings. He enjoyed classic country music from artists like Johnny Cash and Merle Haggard as well as Tejano from artists like Ruben Ramos, Jay Perez, and Little Joe. Elias loved to watch Forensic Files every day and marveled at the way forensic science was used to produce vital pieces of evidence. He also used to enjoy watching westerns and classic shows like Columbo, the original Hawaii Five-O, and the Andy Griffith Show. When it came to food, Elias’ favorite foods were definitely meatloaf, French fries and horchata. He would always ask if our meals at restaurants came with fries so he could ask for a few. Elias was a kind and gentle husband, father, and friend. He will be remembered with great love and fondness for his sense of humor, smiles, laughs, and of course his love. We will keep him alive in our hearts and carry him with us wherever we go in life. Thank you from your family, for showing us the depth of a husband’s and father’s love and gifting us with beautiful memories. You were a great man and your family loves you from the bottom of our hearts. We will be ok, you deserve to rest now. Elias was preceded in death by his parents Mariano & Consuelo Rocha; brothers Tomás Ruiz and Noe Rocha. He is survived by his loving wife Benita D. Rocha; daughters Melinda E. Smith and Maricela D. Rocha; sons Elias D. Rocha, Jr., Joshua D. Rocha, Gabriel D. Rocha and David D. Rocha. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren Anthony, Katherine, Sarah, Gabriel Jr., Tommy, Ashley, Matthew, Ryan, and Serena and 2 great-grandchildren Avalon and Mavis; many nieces and nephews, many family members and friends.
