Eloisa Hartmann Gutiérrez was called home by our Lord on Saturday, October 20, after 87 wonderful years, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 1, 1925 to Felix Hartmann and Teresa Ruiz Hartmann. She spent her formative years in Mexico City, where she worked as a dental assistant. However, she spent her adult life in San Antonio. She was taken back to Mexico City by her sister, Alicia Hartmann de Rivera, for a life-saving heart operation in 1959. She returned to her family in San Antonio and then worked at La Feria Department Store for over 20 years, making many personal sacrifices to nurture, support and educate her four children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Gutiérrez, two sisters Elena Legúz Hartmann, Esther Renteria Hartmann, and one brother Adolfo Hartmann. She is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren, her sister, Alicia Hartmann de Rivera, and brother Alfredo Hartmann. Her son is Dr. Arthur Gutiérrez Hartmann, his wife is Diane P. Gutiérrez, and their three children are Joshua, Ariana and Cristina. Her daughter Mary is married to Dr. Armand Rodriguez, who was more than a son, sharing a special relationship with her, and always giving of his time and giving in to her every wish. Her daughter Martha Yaghi is married to Khaled Yaghi, and their three children are Nasser, Omar and Alia. Her youngest daughter is Laura Garza, and her daughter is Amber Garza. Eloisa's greatest pride was her grandchildren and all of their accomplishments; they in turn were inspired by her unconditional love and tenderness, and awed by her green thumb and ability to nurture life into all plants, flowers and trees that she planted, earning her the nickname of Grammy Grow. Eloisa lived her life always finding the best in all of the people she met, and with the philosophy of: "Con mucho amor y paciencia se gana todo" All is won with lots of love and patience. She loved to travel. Eloisa was and her family are extremely grateful to all of her physicians, in particular to her Cardiologist of nearly 20 years, Dr. Robert Schnitzler, whose dedicated, unwavering and total care to the end was extraordinary, and to Victoria Paparelli, RN CCNS for her constant care. Maria Guzman, her caregiver for the last ~2 years, was completely dedicated to "Mom". Eloisa was a devoted supporter of the Salisianos & Oblates Missions. The Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012, from 6-8 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North followed by the Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 9:30 AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas, 78230.
