In Loving Memory of Elvira Perez It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Elvira D. Perez, who left us peacefully on July 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Elvira Perez was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 22, 1947 to Juvencio and Paula Perez. Known for her kindness, her radiant smile, and spirited creativity, Elvira “Vera” had a gift for making every season brighter. In the spring and summertime, you would find her often in the yard, wearing her working denim jeans and a warm welcoming smile waiting to greet you. All the while, country music played softly from her radio’s speakers. She enjoyed playing her favorite county legends, Johnny Rodriguez and George Strait, or simply listening to KKYX or Y100. In the winter, she wrapped Christmas gifts with precision but most notably, Vera’s Christmas cookies were a gift in themselves and a tradition for all of us. Red and green candy canes and cheerful snowmen took over every inch of the kitchen table, as she baked countless dozens for the family. No cookie left the kitchen without its rainbow sprinkles or love. Throughout the year, she dwelled in a permanent season of love and creativity. In the evenings, she crafted floral arrangements which exemplified not only her art but her remembrance and sentiment for those no longer present. During Fiesta, she painted signature cascarones matching the vibrant colors and culture of the celebration. In her final season, the season of returning home, she joined her family and friends who have gone before her. More significantly, she is with her beloved sister, Juanita. Their companionship was a true embodiment of sisterhood, and their bond was a beautiful reflection of this. As Johnny Rodriguez once sang, ‘Together forever, wherever we are, I couldn’t be me without you.’ She leaves behind her beauty, her infectious laughter and joy, and the warmth she provided by making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Brookehill Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 01, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II, where she will be laid to rest.
