Emma Rodriguez of San Antonio, age 96, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away into God’s loving arms on May 29, 2025. She was born on August 22, 1928 in Houston Texas, the daughter of Jose and Consuela Rodriguez, and was raised in San Antonio, where she lived an extraordinary life, full of love and adventure that always centered around family. She married Pedro Rodriguez in 1944, with whom they shared two children, their son Pedro Jr., and daughter Hildegard. She worked for over 50 years in the food retail industry, working alongside life-long friend Christine Norris. She was known for her beautiful smile and as a celebrated cook within the family, specializing in family favorites to include enchiladas, fried chicken, and the finest cuts of beef! She and her sister-in-law Frances Rodriguez were the family’s tamaleras, serving up their fabulous tamales during the Christmas season. She traveled frequently with her husband with their favorite going to Mexico and Hawaii, accompanied by her brother-in-law Luis and sister-in-law Hildegard Barber. She and her husband were frequent travelers with her best friend Chris and her late husband, Joe Norris . Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Rodriguez, Sr., her granddaughter, Patricia Acosta and all her siblings. She is survived by her son, Pedro Rodriguez, Jr.(Yvonne); her daughter, Hildegard Bodenman (John); her grandchildren, Robert Acosta, Stefanie Vititoe (Jason), Christina J. Cunningham (Kevin), Monica Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Christina M. Carmona (Matt), Jacob Rodriguez, Kathryn and Whitley Cunningham, Alexa Dybevik (Donnie), Virginia Tennant (Jordan), Dylan Vititoe; great-great grandchildren, Alexander, Andrew, and Josephine Carmona, Elizabeth and Madeline Dybevik and Cameron Tennant; her sister-in-law, Frances Rodriguez, her nieces, Olivia Lemelle (Patrick), Frances Rodriguez, Yolanda Geier, Tillie Cortez, AnnaMaria Ornelas, and Elsa Symonds, and her nephews, Jose Rodriguez, Jr. and Robert Rodriguez. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. followed by the Rosary at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North, 20900 IH 10 West.
