"My Last Goodbye" To my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; My last goodbye to my children with the grace of God, I have lived a long life. My children did not know that I lived a very glamorous life in Mexico City, but now they will know about it. Because of my sister Eva, I met many important people; dignitaries, presidents, and premiers of many countries. I went to all their embassy dances, galas, and cocktails at different hotels. I met many movie stars from Hollywood and from Mexico and Spain; actors, actresses etc. I became a close friend of William O'Dwayer he had been the mayor of New York, later became an ambassador of Mexico. He loved Mexico so he stayed to live there. He had been a good ambassador; the people of Mexico loved him. We would go and eat at the Versailles in the hotel Del Prado. He was a true friend. He introduced me to writers, authors, etc. He lived at the Prince Hotel Penthouse. Eva and I would go to see Jai Lai at the fronton also the bull fights, football-soccer on Sundays. I traveled with Eva to different cities. I loved the people, the cities, the churches, and their culture. The restaurants were so beautiful, good food, so different from here. But it had to end. I returned to San Antonio, my son John had enlisted in the Marine Corps, my mother would be alone. I felt that I had to come back to be with her. I came home and I started to work at the State Hospital and H.E.B. on my days off. One day I stopped at the Hot Wells Baseball field to see a game. A friend had told me about the fire departments baseball team. There I met Cherry. He saw me; he came down the bleachers and asked me if I wanted to seat with him. He told me he had his two little girls with him and introduced them. I asked where his wife was, he said she had passed away in 1956. I gave him my condolences. We spoke, later he said he had to leave the girls at their aunts, and that if I was going to stay he would like to come back and continue our conversation. He returned after the game, he asked if I care for a soda or a beer, I said okay. I drove my car to the corner drive –in and parked. He came and sat in my car. He said my car was nicer than his. I guess it was destiny that brought us together. He had been a friend of Eva's when she was in sports. Lot of boys would come to the house to talk about sports since Eva was a star at Lanier he hung around with the boys. I was nine years old. To make the story short, we dated for two months, and got married. He told me he had seen me, but he didn't know if I had anyone. It took him two years to ask for a date. He thought I wouldn't go out with him. He has seen me with other friends. Grandpa and I live a very good life for 38 years. We traveled all over Mexico. I told him being born in Saltillo he had to know his country. He enjoyed all of Mexico, the beauty, the people, the churches Isla Mujeres, Cancun. We took life in stride to enjoy it. We also traveled most of the USA from Niagara Falls, NY Statute of Liberty, Las Vegas, Mount Rushmore, Grand Canyon, NJ Atlantic City, and Washington DC, all the memorials in DC, Hyde Park, Canton Ohio Football Hall of Fame, Cooper Stone Baseball Hall of Fame, and Red Woods. I took photos of every place we stayed. Later we traveled with Litcha and Manuel to Epcot and Disneyland in Orlando Florida. So my children enjoy life. Take time to see the beauty of our country. There's so much to see and enjoy. My children, I have loved you all with all my heart. I am very proud of what you have become. Have faith in what you do to accomplish your goals in life, be close to each other, and get close to God. Remember God in all you do and want. Pray to God often without him, you won't have anything. Please be a good Christian, together you can accomplish what you perceive in life. I have tried to keep the family close and together, to enjoy the beautiful things in life. I have so many beautiful memories that you brought into my life when you were small, going to Paradise Canyon in Corpus Christi, having picnics every two weeks with Grandpa Moore, cooking the barbecues for all to enjoy on Fridays my special Lentil meal; lentil soup, rice, nopalitos, tortas de salmon with sauce and capirotada on special days, my special enchiladas verdes with salsa verde and white rice and beans, and my chiles rellenos with my special sauce. I always looked forward to Thanksgiving; the turkey, watching you all enjoy the meals I cooked and at Christmas and New Year's, to have you enjoy tamales, cookies, cakes, ham, salads, black eyed-peas. Those were special days for me. I loved having you around enjoying whatever I made for all of you to enjoy. My children the most important in life is to keep in touch with family and each other. Go to church and thank God for everything he has given you. Pray at home. Remember always how much I loved you, each and everyone has a very special part in my heart. Always forgive one another.
