In Loving Memory of Ernesto Aleman Sr (Popo) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernesto Aleman, lovingly known as “Popo,” on June 27, 2026, at the age of 92. Ernesto was born on February 26, 1934, in Laredo, to Luz and Felicitas Aleman. He lived a life devoted to his family, who he loved most. A hardworking and compassionate man, Ernesto dedicated his life to providing for and supporting his family in every way he could. Even after retiring in his 70s, he continued finding small projects around the house to keep himself busy while enjoying more time with his beloved wife. Ernesto was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Cecilia R. Aleman, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and memories. Together, they built a strong and loving family founded on faith, compassion, and togetherness. “Popo,” loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each and everyone of them. He was always there to support his family, whether that meant attending sports games, school programs, grandparents’ day events, or simply celebrating life’s special moments together. Ernesto had many passions that he proudly shared with his family. He loved bowling and participated in a Friday night bowling league for over 30 years, often turning bowling nights into cherished family gatherings. He also enjoyed watching wrestling, cheering on the San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and relaxing with his favorite snacks — Kit Kats and cookies. Through his hobbies, Ernesto created traditions and many memories that his loved ones will carry with them forever. Ernesto leaves behind his four children: Manuel Aleman, Ernesto Aleman Jr., Maria Teresa Garcia, and Jose Luz Aleman; nine grandchildren: Rebecca Aleman, Melissa Aleman Gonzalez, Danny Garcia, Gabriel Garcia, Samantha Guerra, Angela Aleman, Gabrielle Aleman, Victoria Aleman, and Graciela Aleman; and twelve great-grandchildren: Joshua Aleman, Gabriel Anthony Garcia, Nicholas Gonzalez, Alayna Gonzalez, Joshua Garcia, Gabrielle Garcia, Justine Garcia, Jazlynn N. Garcia, Juliette Garcia, Julianna Garcia, Jazelle Garcia, and Julian Garcia Jr. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that Ernesto is reunited with his loved ones in Heaven, free from pain, and resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord. His love, kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South on Tuesday, July 7, beginning at 5:00 PM, with a rosary at 6:30 PM. A memorial service will follow at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 8, at 10:00 AM. Graveside to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
