Ernesto Leos Sr. November 12 1952 – January 8 2022 - 69 years old And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life. 1 John 2:25 A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, Ernesto Leos Sr. passed away on 8 Jan 2022 at his family home surrounded by those he loved and who loved him, after a short battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his Father Santiago Leos Sr. and mother Refugia Leos (Soriano) Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 The second child of three sons, Ernesto was born to Santiago and Refugia Leos in San Antonio, TX on November 12, 1952. Ernesto was always a go-getter. As a young boy growing up on the city’s east side, Ernesto served his community at his local church (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) as an altar boy and as a musician in the youth choir. He also was a member of the JROTC Chaminade Guard Armed Drill Team at Central Catholic high school where he graduated in 1971. Later as a young man Ernesto spent 6 years as an assistant coach and then head coach of boys’ little league baseball teams at the Five Diamonds Baseball Park in San Antonio, TX. He held many jobs throughout his life and ended his career retiring from Amtrak. Ernesto found joy in his family and had a passion for the outdoors. When you’d put the two together his heart was overflowing with delight. He specifically enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and especially barbequing. He also had a fondness for helping people whenever the opportunity presented itself. Therefore, shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:24 Monday November 1, 1982 Ernesto Leos Sr united and dedicated his life to his loving wife Ester C. Herrera. She accepted him and his three wonderful children, Teresa, Ernesto Jr and Angela (mother Irene) into her heart. They were two peas in a pod that enjoyed each other’s company immensely. Together they built a happy and healthy home for their loved ones with devotion and hard work. They provided a haven for their family whether it be a place to rest, a meal to eat or just somewhere to hang out. Children’s children are the crown of old men; And the glory of children are their fathers. Proverbs 17:6 Ernesto was admired and adorned with love and respect by all those who knew him. He was truly the foundation of his family, one that will continue to be built upon for generations to come. Ernesto is survived by his loving wife Ester, his three children Teresa (and Ralph) Tijerina of San Antonio, TX, Ernesto (and Britica) Leos Jr of San Antonio, TX, and Angela (and James) Landeros of San Antonio, TX. He has 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind two brothers, Santiago Leos Jr and Alberto Leos and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
