It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernie James Phrampus on August 7, 2023 in his home town of San Antonio, Texas. Ernie was a beloved husband, loving father, and a devoted friend. He was a man whose passion and zest for adventure touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on January 11, 1958, Ernie's journey through life was marked by his unwavering love for anything automotive, whether it be classic cars, Harley Davidson motorcycles, or his cherished ski boat. From a young age, he was drawn to the thrill of the open road and the serenity of cruising on water. He shared his passion generously with those around him by partying at his lake house, riding with his friends on his Harley, or tearing up a beach in his dune buggy. While Ernie's love for anything with an engine was undeniable, his greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Debbie P. Phrampus, with whom he shared a love story that inspired those around them. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories, weathering the storms of life's challenges, and celebrating its triumphs side by side. Ernie's legacy is continued through his three beloved sons, Benjamin, Austin, and Chance. He was not only their father, but also their biggest supporter. He would regularly celebrate and commend his son’s accomplishments with those around him. He instilled in his sons the values of hard work and the importance of pursuing one's passions. He leaves behind a legacy of love, diligence, and adventure that will guide them throughout their lives. Ernie’s influence also extends to his step-children and beyond. He leaves behind step-son Philip Perez and his wife Amanda, and their 3 children, Olivia, Omri, and Tilly. He also leaves behind Paul Perez and his long-time girlfriend Mandy. Finally, he leaves Chance’s fiancé and his soon-to-be daughter-in-law Maddie. His presence will be missed in all their lives. As we mourn the loss of Ernie Phrampus, let us remember the enduring mark he left on this world. He taught us the power of hard work, to embrace life's adventures, and to cherish our loved ones. Though he may have embarked on his final journey, his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the honor of sharing in his life. A memorial service to celebrate Ernie's life will be held at 1pm on August 12, 2023 at the Mission Park South Main Chapel. Ernie's spirit will forever ride on the wind, cruise on the open water, and rev through our memories. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all. Rest in peace, dear Ernie. Your legacy lives on.
