Tributes

Eugene H. Guerra, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the age of 87. He was born on March 25, 1928 to the late Jesusa Travieso Guerra. He graduated from Brackenridge High School. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 40 years. He was an active member of Little Flower Parish and was a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was a descendant of the Travieso family who were among the first 16 families that by order of the King of Spain came from the Canary Islands to settle in San Antonio. He was preceded in death just 12 days after his loving wife of 66 years, Ninfa R. Guerra and by his sisters Rosie Sanchez, Lucille Martinez, Beatrice Willis, twin sisters Jessie Flores and Josie Smith. He loved to travel with his wife, family and friends. He had many qualities and a cheerful, joking personality that anyone who met him enjoyed his company. He loved to garden and spend time with his dog Junior his only boy. Our father will be dearly missed but will never be forgotten. We know Dad left us to be with Mom, the Love of his life. Our faith allows us to believe that she welcomed him in Heaven with open arms, into what is now their eternal Home. He is survived by his six daughters: Linda, husband Jim Tillery, Rose, husband Sonny Salinas, Margaret, husband David Colunga, Lucy, husband Art Martinez, Katie Guerra - Leschber, and Caroline Guerra-Funari; grandchildren Megan Eads, Bryan and Brandon Salinas, Alison Shipley, Matthew Colunga, Jade Mia Pritchard, Patrick and Michelle Martinez, Connor and Capri Leschber, and Kristi Funari; great-grandchildren Kylee Camacho and Ian Shipley; sister Estella Rodriguez and numerous nieces and nephews. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. A procession will depart the Chapel on Friday, May 15, 2015 at 9:15 A.M. for a funeral mass to be offered at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower, 1715 N. Zarzamora at 10:00 A.M. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery III.
