Felix Gonzales Castillo was born on November 24, 1940 in Charlotte, TX. He was born to Santiago B. Castillo and Maria Gonzales Castillo. Felix entered eternal rest on February 13, 2023. He attended Texas A&M University in College Station as a Corp Cadet. He postponed completing his degree to honorably serve in the US Navy. He proudly served 6 years aboard the USS Ethan Allen, a nuclear powered fleet ballistic missile submarine and the USS Harold J. Ellison, a Gearing class destroyer during the Vietnam War. Felix was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal while serving his country. After his military service, he was a ranch foreman in Rossville, TX at Knowlton Dairy. After the dairy closed, Felix became a meat inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture. He retired in 2010 after 32 years of service. Felix was a hard-working, private and humble man that enjoyed various hobbies, getting together with close friends, but mostly watching sports with his wife of 53 years. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan. He is preceded in death by his parents, Santiago and Maria, his sister Herminia Gonzales, and his brother Santiago B. Castillo, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Margarita R. Castillo, his daughter Audelia Ortiz and husband Louis, his daughter Meredith De La Pena, his son Felix R. Castillo and wife Priscilla, and son Roland Castillo, his four grandchildren Randall De La Pena, Dr. Kathryn Harlan and husband Russ, Kesley De La Pena, and Lucas Castillo. He is also survived by his sister Maria Alvarez, numerous loving nieces and nephews and close family friends. Serving as Pallbearers will be sons Felix Castillo and Roland Castillo, grandson Randall De La Pena, nephews Lorenzo Alvarez and Steve Alvarez and his very dear and close family friend, Ruben Guerra. Visitation will be held Wednesday February 22, 2023 from 5PM to 7PM at Mission Park South, on Military Drive in San Antonio, TX. Funeral services will begin with a prayer service on Thursday February 23, 2023 from 8:45AM to 9:45AM at Mission Park South, on Military Drive in San Antonio, TX with interment immediately after at 10:15 at Fort Sam Cemetery.
