Louise left this world to join her beloved husband, Jack Robert Nottingham, of almost 71 years and is now with him in God's care. She is survived by daughter, Jennifer Louise Nottingham and son-in-law Jeff Davis, and was blessed with too many nieces and nephews to count each one her favorite. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Eichholtz and Percy Oughton, her sisters Emma Beitel and Addie Bednarz, her in-laws Margaret Silcock and Ben Nottingham, her sisters-in-law Margaret Fuchs, Ruth Jecker, Lucille Davis and brothers-in-law Kenneth and Ted Nottingham. Louis grew up on Weaver Street in San Antonio and married her High School sweetheart in 1939 after graduating Brackenridge. After "the war" and living in Key West and San Francisco, they returned home to Fairbanks Street. They moved to The Scenic Loop Playground in 1959. She was there when residents voted to incorporate and become Grey Forest. Louise was an active member of the Helotes Garden Club she was famous for her beautiful garden, Grey Forest Area Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary where she put her organizational skills to work making Cornyval volunteer schedules before excel spreadsheets, Scenic Loop Playground Club holding office, performing in plays and attending potluck/covered dish dinners and she was a longtime friend of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church. Louise retired from Office of Personnel, Kelly Air Force Base in 1980. At one time, it seems she had hired most of the people working on the base. She and Jack ran the Auction Barn and Auction Annex in Helotes in the early 80's. She was known for her sense of humor and quick wit by staff and residents of Morningside Ministries Kendall House at Menger Springs, Boerne. There was always a funny story being repeated to visitors, something she said or did, or the hat she's wearing that day. Our Aunt Louise, our friend Louise, Mama will be greatly missed. Graveside service 2 PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Mission Burial Park North, with a traditional potluck dinner/reception to follow at 4PM at the Scenic Loop Playground Community Building 18249 Sherwood Trail, Grey Forest, 78023.
