Florentino "Tino" Lares, entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Tino was born in Austin Texas on April 28, 1931. At the age of 22 he joined the U.S. Army. Upon completion of basic training at Fort Carson, Colorado he was assigned to Stuttgart Army Base in Germany. After completing his tour of duty he returned home. Later he rejoined and again was stationed in Germany and later at Fort Sam Houston Army Base. While at Fort Sam he married Felicitas Hernandez on September 4, 1960. Together the couple traveled to Germany and to Fort Benning Army Base in Georgia. Upon completion of his assignment to Viet Nam, he returned home to begin his civilian life. He was employed with CPS Energy, and joined the U.S. National Guard HHC 1st BN 141St Infantry and later joined the U.S. Army Reserve 238th Maintenance Company and retired as a SSG after 26 years. In 1988, he also retired from CPS Energy. Tino, was an active member of the American Legion JFK Post 485. Tino, is preceded in death by his children, Joseph, Josephine, and Ismael, granddaughter Tessa and daughter in law Margie Lares wife of Louie, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Eduvijes Lares and brothers, Arturo, Valentine, Gilbert and Tony. Tino is survived by his wife Felicitas and children Cathy Hank, LucioRosary, Modesto Laura, Eloise James Louie and Israel and daughter in law Maria widow of Ismael, 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, niece Irene Garcia and brothers Fernando and Robert, sister in lawsRachel, Gladys and Hope. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Jeannie Gonzales and Debbie Herrera for their loving assistance and support at home and at the hospital. Thank you also to Silver Creek Manor, Fresenius Dialysis Clinic at Westover Hills and Odyssey Hospice Staff for the care and kindness given to our dad. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
