Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Frank Sanchez, Sr., died February 22, 2023, at the age of 91. He was born on April 26, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas to Carmen Sanchez and Juanita Trevino Sanchez. He joined the Army in 1949 and fought in Korea with the 7th Armored Division and in Vietnam with the First Cavalry. He was highly decorated and retired as a Sgt. Major after 30 years of service. His awards and decorations, included the Army Presidential Unit Citation, Naval Presidential Unit Citation, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal with Six knots, Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, Korean Service Medal with Seven Battle Stars, Vietnam Service Medal with Four Battle Stars, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Combat Infantry Badge. Sgt. Major Sanchez was preceded in death by his sisters, Rita Astorga (Ben) and Catherine Gonzalez (Frank), brother, Ralph Sanchez (Virginia), and great-granddaughter, Marie Gonzalez. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Olga Talamantez Sanchez; son, Frank Sanchez, Jr. (Linaden), daughters, Cynthia Sanchez and Deanna Cervantes (Robert Jr.); brothers, Rudy Sanchez, Edward Sanchez (Susie); grandchildren, Tyffany Gonzalez, Laura Valdez, Matthew Sanchez (Rachel Rodriguez), Kirstin Cervantes (Kyle Law), Katlyn Guerrero (Matthew), Robert Cervantes III (Chelsea Reed); great-grandchildren, Donavan Gonzalez, Neyomi Gonzalez, Serenity Martinez, Isabella Cervantes, Gia Gonzalez, Luca Cervantes, Azyiah Hernandez, Adalynn Law, Evelyn Guerrero, Greyson Cervantes, Elizabeth Guerrero, Brantley Law and Caleb Cervantes. The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for the loving care he received by the personnel at Arden Courts Assisted Living and later, Estates at Shavano Park. SERVICES Visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., with a Rosary at 9:00 a.m. and a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 307 John Adams Dr., San Antonio, TX 78228.
