Frances Urrutia, 69, was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 30th, 2010. Miss Urrutia was born February 28, 1941 in Karnes City, TX. to Miguel and Sabina Urrutia. She graduated from Ursuline Academy High School and received a bachelor's degree in social work from Our Lady of the Lake College. She worked for The American Red Cross in Washington, DC and later returned to San Antonio, where she continued her career with The American Red Cross. Later in life she worked for ILD Telecommunications where she utilized her bilingual skills. She was a member of St. Mary Magdelain Catholic Church where she attended mass and holy hour. Frances enjoyed reading and discussing current events and politics. She also liked old things such as antiques and collectibles. She was very interested in natural remedies, vitamins, and herbs for health and well being. She loved to visit all her family members and was present at just about every family event that she was invited to. She possessed a strong will, independent spirit, and fierce loyalty to those she loved best. Frances lived the Catholic Faith that her parents taught her. Miss Urrutia is preceded in death by her sister Marie Guadalupe Urrutia and her brother Pedro Urrutia. Miss Urrutia is survived by her aunt Tia Eloisa O'Hagan; her sisters, Mary Williams, Theresa Lewis, and Sister Consuelo Urrutia; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Rosie Urrutia and sister-in-law Dora Urrutia; nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, RoseAnn Pena and her daughter Anna Lisa; Michael and Roberta Urrutia and their children Andrea and Patrick; Al and Lisa Herrera and their children Brittany, Cassie, and Megan; Linda and David Carlson; JC and Suzanne Villanueve and their children, Leagh, Luren and Ardin; Xavier Urrutia and friend Sebastian; Peter and Susan Urrutia and their children Campbell and Emerson; Eric and Susan Rosenberg and their children Isabelle and Alexandra; and her Godson, James M. Lewis. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 6:00PM-7:00PM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower, San Antonio, Texas 78201. A Rosary Service will be held that evening at 7:00PM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, with Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78266.
