Garry L White PhD, twin brother of Larry White, passed away the morning of May 10, 2025 after an extended illness. He was two days away from his 75th birthday. Garry was very involved with his college fraternity, enjoyed hiking across the Grand Canyon, skiing, and caving. He was at peace, after all the visitors, cards and voice messages. This all touched him deeply. Garry you will be missed. Garry's funeral will be on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Mission Park Cemetery-South, 1700 SE Military Dr. San Antonio. 78214. Visitation starts at 10 am, Funeral starts at 11 am with a lunch/reception to follow at the Cemetery's banquet hall. Please pass this onto those who may want to go to his funeral. Dress is casual (Garry was not a coat/tie person). If you choose, the following are clothing options as outlined by groups: Texas State - a shirt or hat with Texas State University or College logo Cavers - shirt related to caving or a flashlight or cave gloves on your belt Fraternity - something with your fraternity logo Hiked Grand Canyon - the yellow shirt Garry gave you. I have extras if needed. I will wear (maybe others will too) my "I survived Garry's PhD" shirt. For those who are coming from out of town, the following are reasonable motels. They are about a 10 minute drive to the cemetery and are close to SE Military Drive. La Quinta Inn _ Brooks City Base 3180 Goliad Road, San Antonio, TX, 78223 Phone 1 - 210-337- 7171 Memorial Bicycle Ride for Garry White Saturday, May 31th, 2025 Please join us in honoring the memory of our friend, Garry White, with a peaceful and heartfelt bike ride along one of his favorite trails. Meet-Up Location: Confluence Park on W. Mitchell Street Time: Meet at 7:00 AM | Wheels Down at 7:30 AM We'll ride together down the Mission Trail to Mission Park and back — a gentle, scenic route of about 4 miles each way. This will be a low and slow ride, and you’re welcome to ride all or just part of the trail — whatever feels right for you. After the ride, we’ll gather at a nearby local dining spot for brunch and to share stories, memories, and laughter as we celebrate Garry’s life and love of the outdoors. Everyone is welcome — whether you rode with Garry, hiked beside him, or simply shared time with him outside. Let’s come together, ride together, and remember Garry together. We hope to see you there.
