Tributes

Our beloved parents Gary and Lynda Karcher passed away together January 28, 2019 after 51 years of marriage. In life they were inseparable, devoted partners and best friends. They were a shining example of unconditional true love. They met as teenagers and after a year of Gary serving dutifully in the Navy during Vietnam they were married in his grandma's rose garden. After serving his country Gary and Lynda settled down back home in San Antonio to be near family. Four years of marriage and a dog later they decided to start a family. Together they raised three daughters and over the years they were role models, mentors, and parental figures to countless other friends and family. They were never happier than when they were surrounded by their grandchildren, playing hula hoops, writing poetry, and making art projects. They worked as a team with Gary skillfully crafting his woodworking projects and Lynda painting her beautiful artwork on them. Our parents could never imagine a life apart from each other and just as they had wished, they will be together forever. Gary was born on March 4, 1946 to Charles Edward and Katie Lee Karcher, Jr. in San Antonio, Texas and Lynda was born on February 17, 1948 to Robert Harley and Doris Irene Fodge in San Antonio, Texas. Gary is preceded in death by his parents Charles Edward and Katie Lee Karcher, Jr; sister Violet "Nadine" Nelson; brother William “Bill” Karcher and brother in law Donald Godfrey. Lynda is preceded in death by her parents Robert Harley and Doris Irene Fodge; brother James “Jimmy” Walter Fodge and grandson Kodie Ray Cole. Gary and Lynda are survived by their three daughters Windy Mariah Huckaba (Luke), Misty Dawn Cole (Jonathan), and Summer Gayle Ferguson (Daniel); sisters Charlette Godfrey, Nancy Lalliss, and Karen Fodge; brother Robert "Bob" Fodge; grandchildren Lacie (James), Kiona, Savanna, Charlette, Hailey "Rayne", Dakota, Harley, Dannika and Unity. Remembered by their many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 5-9 p.m. and Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South.
