It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Genevieve Medel Garcia of San Antonio, TX, who left us to be with the Lord Sunday, February 7, 2021. A woman who knew and loved the Lord and her family passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones at 85 years of age. We know she is reunited with her mother and father, brother and sisters, daughter Joyce, and family and friends who’ve already moved on. She will be remembered as a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, and friend. We are so thankful we were able to be by her side at the moment she departed this world to be in heaven. Genevieve was born to Dionicio and Josefina Medel on January 3, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Joyce. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Concepcion Garcia, eight children, Jose Armando Garcia (Belinda), Helen Escobedo, Jesse Oscar Garcia (Letitia), Genevieve G. Collins, Annette Marie Smith (Evan), James M. Garcia (Maria), Phillip Garcia (Cynthia), and Letitia Garcia. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Porofino A. Salinas, 22 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren. She was a generous, caring and religious woman with a true servant’s heart. Genevieve was a proud member of Southside Baptist Church and served in various volunteer roles for many years. She was the bedrock of her family, loved by so many, and her story will go on. She had a beautiful life and her family and friends will cherish all the memories made. “His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” Visitation will begin at 1:00PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. and immediately by a short Procession to the burial site on the grounds of Mission Burial Park South. If one has recently been experiencing flu-like or covid-like symptoms, we ask you to join us online www.missionparks.com on Sunday February 21, 2021 beginning at 3 p.m. It is imperative for your safety and the safety of others to adhere to the CDC guidelines and wear a double mask throughout the entire service and maintain 6 ft distance from others.
