On the evening of Wed. Dec. 21, 2016, Genoveva Anita Bonugli,with a strong, faithful heart and surrounded by an endless circle of love from family and friends, accepted a promotion from our Lord Jesus to travel on from her home on Earth to God’s paradise. She was born on Jan. 8, 1945 and was most proud that she shared her birthday with Elvis, one of her favorite singers. She was greeted in celebration and welcomed home by her parents, Manuel J. Ramirez and Genoveva S. Ramirez and countless family and friends. She is survived, forever loved and cherished by her daughters, Malen Sanchez, Monica King and son, Calleleh (Kelly) Bonugli. She loved her son-in-laws, Alfred Sanchez, Branden King and daughter-in-law, Katy Bonugli. Her most precious, treasured possessions were the love from her grandchildren, Martin (Victoria), Gabriella(Nathan), Jeremy (Caitlin), Daniel, Jeweliana, Emma, Brayden, Maggie and Philip. Although she was born and lived most of her life in San Antonio, she loved the families and friends in Katy, TX, where she lived and enjoyed her last years. Genny graduated from Burbank High School and attended TrinityUniversity and completed her teaching certification from UTSA. She was a teacher, instructor and night school supervisor for more than 25 yrs with SAISD and Region 20. Her father once said that she was a teacher from the minute she was born because she had taught him and her mom how to be parents and she helped them learn how to be better parents for her sisters, Estella Laurel (Hector), Dolores Pesina (Elois), Elvira Ramirez (Hondo), and Celia Castro (Israel). She was a Godmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. She was a season ticket fan of the San Antonio Spurs and went to Dallas Cowboy games to cheer them on. Genny loved to sing Patsy Cline songs. She was an artist and a phenomenal teacher, but her gifts were not limited to painting, sculpting, pottery or being able to communicate her knowledge to others. She was an extraordinary single mother who made sure that her kids never went without. She was also the eldest daughter, who carried on as a parent when she was left in charge. Genny taught us that Alzheimer’s can try to force the brain to rob you of memories, physical control and life itself; however, she taught us that she was all heart and that nothing could make her heart stop until she was ready to pack-up and move on into her new home in heaven. Her gravesite will be a garden at Mission Park South after Wed. Dec.28, 2016 but you will be able to see her spirit and legacy live on for years through the lives she gave us to share. You will be missed but never forgotten. Until we meet again
