TIPPS George Daniel "Dan" Tipps, born January 29, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on January 23, 2015 at the age of 75. He was preceded in death by his parents, George A. and Alma Faye Tipps; sisters: Janet VanZandt and Jackie Wert; and brother, Gene Longmire. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Sandi Tipps; daughter, Danielle Norman and husband Scott; granddaughters: Kaylee and Kylee Norman; sisters: Lois White and Patty Estes; brother, Richard Longmire, mother-in-law, Janet Minnia; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Haecker and husband Don, and Terri Minnia and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan left Indiana as a youngster to join the Air Force, which sent him to San Antonio. Once here, he stayed and became a "Legalized Texas Citizen." After the Air Force, he went to work at City Public Service. He worked in many areas of the company but finished out his 34 years in the Underground which was his love and yielded his insistence of "perfection" that was sometimes a topic of heated discussions. Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dan loved his sports, especially when his granddaughters were involved. They especially loved when he called out, "Kylee girl" and "Kaylee Brianna." They will always have an Angel watching over them. He was extremely aware of current events with special emphasis in San Antonio. He loved his pets Milly and Roxie and was known to sneak extra treats to them every chance he could. Dan was a practical joker and knew no limits when it came to pulling them. He was very giving and had a huge heart. Dan "The Man" was loved by everyone and never complained no matter what new health issue arose. Earth has lost a great man, but Heaven has gained one heck of an Angel. We love you Dan and Dad and Grandpa. Thank you to the doctors and nurses at NE Methodist Hospital for taking such loving care of him. A special thank you to Kimmy Lasswell who watched over him for so many years and made his stay here so much more comfortable. Thank you to Dr. Thomas Fisher for his extra efforts in treating Dan with such care as well as the Staff at Dr. Kiesz's office, especially Jennifer.
