On September 16, 2023, Gerald (Jerry) A. Janosko passed away peacefully in his home in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. Gerald was born in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, to parents Albert and Helen Janosko, where he grew up and attended Clairton High School. Jerry excelled in baseball and basketball and lettered in both sports. At a church social, Jerry met a beautiful lady, Mary Kojundzic, and they were subsequently married and had 2 children, Jeffrey and Lori Beth. Jerry served in the United States Marine Corps and went on to earn both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education. Jerry and the family moved to Willard, Ohio where he accepted a principal position. He was a pillar of the community, serving as elementary school principal, a member of the Lions Club International Service Organization, a Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a Board President of the YMCA, and as a lector and Eucharist minister at St Francis Xavier. For all those accomplishments and more, he was nominated and awarded Man of the Year. After retiring, the couple enjoyed traveling to many different parts of the country. They moved to San Antonio, Texas, to be near family. Jerry had a love for all things Pittsburgh including the food, his dear friends from Clairton High School, The Steelers, The Pirates, The Penguins and The Pitt Panthers. However, he embraced his new home as well and found a great passion for BBQ Ribs/Brisket and The San Antonio Spurs. Jerry had a passion for music and was always there to belt out Jimmy Buffet’s “Margaritaville” and Herman’s Hermits “Henry The 8th”. Jerry is survived by his daughter Lori Beth Janosko, son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Martha Janosko, granddaughter Catherine Guzman, great granddaughters Ava and Aubrey, nephew Jack Kunzic, sister Gayle Maxwell and brother-in-law Charles Maxwell, niece Melissa Maxwell, nephew Charles Maxwell, III, and Jerry’s dear friend Mary Stafford. He was proceeded in death by wife of sixty years, Mary, his beloved dachshund Buddy, his nieces Nancy Sue Smider and Maureen Stetzer, and his parents Albert and Helen Janosko. A visitation will be held at Mission Park Funeral Home, 3401 Cherry Ridge, starting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2nd, with eulogies from family and friends, followed by The Rosary at 7 p.m. A procession will depart from Prince of Peach Catholic Church following Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
